“Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, said national adoption day has been going on for more than 20 years, helping more than 75,000 children get adopted.
‘Those children we really focus on are teenagers, children with special needs, children in sibling groups,’ said Soronen. ‘Children who have been in care for so long that they resist efforts of permanency, because they have no reason to trust adults, or family, or this notion of permanency if they’ve moved multiple times.’”
