“Then Valerie Brown, one of the Student Services team members at Year Up Bay Area, came to me with an idea. In the Bay Area, Year Up had just started a pilot with Apartment List’s Home Bridge program, which works with real estate companies to donate empty apartments to those in need of temporary, transitional housing. When Valerie asked me if I wanted to be considered for the pilot, I thought it was too good to be true – but then again, I’d thought the same thing about Year Up, so I decided to give it a shot.”
