Spencer provides strategic and executional leadership on critical business priorities and leads innovation efforts which will expand Blue Meridian’s work as it evolves. He explores new philanthropic investment opportunities, leads due diligence on potential Blue Meridian investees, and manages relationships with current investees. Spencer leads Blue Meridian’s Nationwide Solutions portfolio.
Prior to joining Blue Meridian, Spencer served as President of The Mission Continues, a nationwide organization that engages military veterans in continued service to their country by serving in their own neighborhoods. In this role he built and nurtured partnerships with hundreds of community-based organizations in urban areas all across America, while also influencing changes in the national conversation about potential of today’s veterans. Before that, Spencer served as Vice President of Recruiting for Teach for America, where he helped lead the significant growth in applicants from campuses across the country. He previously served as an Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company, where he led a wide range of strategic consulting engagements in the public, private, and social sectors.
Spencer began his professional career as an aviation officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. Over eight years, he served in numerous humanitarian and peace-enforcement operations in Korea, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Central and South America, and multiple stateside locations.
Spencer serves on the Advisory Boards of Blue Star Families, Concussion Legacy Foundation, and the Academy Investor Network. He earned a BS from the United States Military Academy, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
